Review: 2021 Volkswagen Arteon 2.0T SEL 4MOTION

This mid-size sedan has received numerous awards for its head-turning refresh inside and out.

The Volkswagen Arteon was first unveiled in North America at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show where it was announced that the upmarket-styled Arteon would be replacing the basic-styled CC. The Arteon is a versatile sedan that is a bit of a tweener in its segment because it's been described as either a large family sedan or a mid-size car. This year, the Arteon received a facelift which gives it a more refined front end with sharpened design elements. Also as part of the makeover, the Arteon will be sitting on 19 and 20-inch wheels that perfectly display its refined sporty look making it stand out among a sea of CUV's and SUV's.

As part of the facelift, a redesigned cockpit includes premium interior dé'cor like leather ventilated and heated seats throughout the vehicle and also a massaging driver's seat. The cockpit technology will also will be updated to keep pace, so the Arteon will now come standard with Volkswagen Digital Cockpit which includes MIB3 infotainment with wireless App-Connect, enhanced voice recognition, USB-C charging, an upgraded navigation system, Car-Net® with Wi-Fi capability, and SiriusXM® with 360L streaming and satellite content and a Harman/Kardon® premium audio.

The new look and style of the Arteon has been well received, as it recently picked up an award From Texas Auto Writers Association for Best Midsize Car for 2021. In addition to the other accolades, the 2021 Arteon was also named a TOP SAFETY PICK by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) because of its LED headlights and the adaptive front-lighting system (AFS) with dynamic cornering lights.

The refreshed Arteon features a refined front end with sharpened design elements, and a redesigned cockpit with upgraded décor and cutting-edge technology.

Source: Volkswagen | Volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce that the 2021 ID.4 SUV and 2021 Arteon have won their respective categories at this year's Texas Auto Roundup, an annual spring driving event of the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) media group. Hosted at the Texas Motor Speedway, the event allowed journalists to experience and compare numerous vehicles from most major automakers in one place.

For 2021, TAWA elevated the Green Vehicle of Texas category to major award status, given the growth in electrified vehicle offerings. The award was won by Volkswagen's all-new, all-electric ID.4 SUV. It's a great honor that ID.4 has been named the Green Vehicle of Texas, said Matthew Renna, Vice President E-mobility and Innovation, Volkswagen of America. Having organizations like Texas Auto Writers Association educate the public on our brand's electric future—and EVs in general—is valuable to the transition to electrification.

Recently named 2021 World Car of the Year, the ID.4 ushers in a new era of e-mobility for Volkswagen. On sale across the United States, the SUV is the brand's first step towards a goal of democratizing EVs for all, with an MSRP of $39,995 for the ID.4 Pro model, and a potential Federal tax credit of $7,500.

As well as this award, Volkswagen also picked up the award for Best Midsize Car with the refreshed 2021 Arteon. An amazing accolade for our Arteon, said Hein Schafer, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy, Volkswagen of America, Inc. This car delivers so much, and does so in such stunning fashion. It's great to see it shine in this key automotive category.

The refreshed Arteon features a refined front end with sharpened design elements, and a redesigned cockpit with upgraded décor and cutting-edge technology.

For over 30 years, the Texas Auto Writers Association has made its mission to promote accuracy and quality in the automotive journalism field. The media group hosts two signature drive events each year: the springtime Texas Auto Roundup and the Texas Truck Rodeo held in the fall.
