2023 INFINITI QX50 Sport Elicits a Sport Sedan Feel

The new QX50 Sport package rides and handles like a sport sedan with the practicality and roominess of an SUV.

The INFINITI QX50 has a rich history that traces back to its introduction in 2007 as the EX35. The first-generation model boasted a sleek design, featuring the brand's signature styling elements and a potent V6 engine under the hood. In 2013, the EX35 was renamed the QX50, aligning with INFINITI's new nomenclature strategy. This naming change was unveiled at the 2013 Nanjing Auto Show with US models going on sale for the 2014 model year. The name change also saw a mild refresh, refining its design and enhancing the QX's overall appeal. Early models included QX50, QX50 AWD, QX50 Journey, and QX50 AWD Journey.

New INFINITI Sport

My press loan for this week is the new INFINITI QX50 Sport. When engineers are building sport luxury line models, they are always looking to find strike the perfect balance between elegance, comfort, and raw driving excitement. The new INFINITI QX50 Sport is the newest QX model that has managed to encapsulate all these qualities and more. This sophisticated crossover SUV takes the term 'Sport' to new heights, offering an exhilarating driving experience coupled with modern technology and luxurious features. I found that the Sport handles the sweeping on-ramps and overpasses like a sports sedan on rails with its responsive and tight turning radius. For its size of footprint and short wheelbase, it provides an amazing ride that is smooth like you would expect to find in a high-end European luxury car sedan.

Exterior Changes

The INFINITI QX50 Sport boasts a captivating design that exudes confidence and presence on the road. Its sculpted bodylines, new unique front fascia, and aerodynamic profile contribute to not only its stylish appearance but also its efficient performance. The vehicle also comes with 20-inch dark-painted and machine-finished wheels and gloss black exterior trim pieces.

Interior Technology and Luxury

Advanced technology is a key highlight of the QX50 Sport. I have always liked INFINITI's double-stack infotainment system where the apps and navigation system is very cleanly laid out. You can see the navigation map crystal clear because it's in high-definition resolution. For music lovers who prefer to hear all the notes in their music, the QX50 Sport has the iconic Bose® Premium Audio System with twelve speakers.

Performance

Under the hood, the Infiniti QX50 Sport is driven by a performance-oriented powertrain that delivers the world's first mass-produced variable-compression turbocharged (VC-Turbo) engine that promises a thrilling ride. What makes this powertrain unique and potent, the 2.0-liter engine can seamlessly change its compression ratio to optimize for improved fuel efficiency or greater power output, depending on the driver's demands. It is rated for 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque that will produce 23 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpgs on the highway.

Safety

Additionally, every QX50 features a standard suite of active safety technology including Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist.

INFINITI Premium Care

Like all 2023 INFINITI models, lease or retail, sold in the United States, the 2023 QX50 adds the convenience of INFINITI Premium Care. The integrated maintenance program provides a suite of benefits including up to three years of inspections, oil changes and tire rotations, expanding on the luxury automaker's tradition of providing top-rated customer satisfaction.

The Infiniti QX50 Sport represents the essence of automotive excellence, marrying elegance, performance, and advanced technology into one exceptional package. Its striking design turns heads wherever it goes, while the powerful 2L Turbo and the XTRONIC transmission with Downshift Rev Matching and standard paddle shifters, help deliver a fun and enjoyable driving experience.
